How do I Shutdown or Restart on Windows 8 PC?

Windows 8 operating system has been give kudos and knocks by various users in various places and at different times. But here is one of the challenges of Windows 8; Shutting Down and (or) Restarting.

The issues is that both Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 use power efficiently, so you might not require to shut down your PC unless you intend retiring your PC for a while. However, you’ll occasionally have to restart your PC after you have installed a new app or to finish installing updates. Here's how to do it.

  • First and foremost, make sure you save your work and close any apps you have open.
  • If there's a Power icon Power icon on your Start screen, tap or click it, and then tap or click Restart. Otherwise, do the following;
  • Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Settings.
  • (If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Settings.)
  • Click Power and then click Shutdown or Restart.
